I got the COCOAIRE Shoe Deodorizer 2 pack. Each deodorizer is 6” x 3”. They easily fit in my shoes. They can be moved around to use anywhere there’s something smelly. They have no fragrance. They are very effective at removing smells. I’ve used them on smelly items that I wasn’t sure would be salvageable and the longer I left these with the items the less they smelled so, longevity wise these seem to be more effective the longer they stay with the smelly item. I definitely notice things have more freshness after I’ve used these. They were definitely worthwhile to get. They’ve saved some things I thought were throw aways for sure.
I grabbed these for our main entry closet where we store games and a cordless vacuum. Something in there smells musty, whether it's old cardboard boxes or the vacuum filter I'm not sure, but I didn't want a perfumed cover-up scent. I wanted neutral or nothing at all. These are longer than they are wide, making them a perfect fit for shoes. They'd work for larger kids' sizes on up. The fabric is a muslin-type cloth filled with activated charcoal, which absorbs both odors and moisture. I've used charcoal bags before but learned something new from these: you can reactivate the charcoal by setting the bags in sunlight for a couple of hours. I've thrown bags away in the past not knowing that, so this is a game changer for me.After two days in the closet, it already smells much better, though I can still detect a little mustiness. It's a big closet, so I may need to add a few more bags. I recommend these for closets and shoes!
I’ve been sticking these into my work boots every night after I get home from the shop. Working in a machine shop means I'm on my feet all day, and my boots usually pay the price for it. By the third day of using these inserts consistently, I noticed a huge difference they actually smelled fresh when I went to put them on in the morning. They are a good size for boots or a gym bag and don’t have any of those overpowering artificial scents that just try to mask the problem. It seems like the coconut charcoal is doing the heavy lifting by actually pulling the moisture out. It’s a pretty straightforward, low maintenance way to keep my gear from getting funky.
I was a little skeptical about this at first, but it has actually been awesome and very helpful. I started using it in my husband’s sneakers because they always had a strong odor. After using these daily, I noticed a big improvement and the smell has really calmed down. I don’t notice that foul odor anymore, which has been a huge relief.I also expected them to have some kind of fragrance, but they don’t at all. They simply help absorb the odor without adding any scent, which I actually prefer. They’re very easy to use and I really like that they’re reusable. All you have to do is place them in the sun for a couple of hours to reset them, and then they’re ready to use again. That makes them very convenient and helps save money over time.
About six weeks ago I was returning from the store after picking up groceries and a couple of bottles of wine for an upcoming event. The bottles were held upright in one of the store's nylon cloth wine bags by surrounding groceries in the back of my small SUV. During a turn I heard the wine bottles tip over with a clink but didn't think much about it. When I got home and was unloading the groceries I discovered that one of the wine bottles had shattered. Ugh! There was glass everywhere and the wine had soaked into the carpet of my trunk area, and therefore into the particle board beneath it. I cleaned up the glass and soaked up as much of the spilt wine as possible with a couple of large cloth towels. Then I left the trunk open to help it air out and opened all of the car windows. It helped some, but I've been unable to get the lingering smell of stale wine out of my car. Weeks later, even after driving around with my windows open, the smell has faded some, but it still reeks. I strongly dislike the smell of perfumes and similar deodorizers, so have avoided using those in my car. When I saw these COCOAIRE shoe deodorizers I originally got them to place in my closet with my shoes. But then I remembered my car. Activated charcoal is famous for absorbing odors, and these are fairly large so they should help absorb some of the smell in my car like large desiccant packets. I'm desperate.I like that these are all natural, fragrance and chemical free, and eco-friendly. The charcoal granuals are contained inside white cotton cloth bags that allow them to breath. The bags are seemingly cinched closed with drawstring-like woven cord, which makes them attractive. On closer inspection, the bags are actually sewn shut, so there's no worry of the activated coconut charcoal granules spilling. The instructions on the bag state that odor absorption occurs gradually over extended use, and that results improve with regular use. That's good to know. It's also stated that the bags can be reactivated by placing them in sunlight for 1-2 hours to release absorbed moisture. I suspect that would be most effective when relative humidity is low, which it currently is in my area. I put these in my car today and really hope they help. If these work as hoped, they're worth their weight (125.2g, or 4.416oz per bag) in gold. Wish me luck!
